GSK
GlaxoSmithKline, the global pharmaceutical group, sells well known brands such as Ribena and Lucozade through several thousand vending machines located in a variety of locations, including leisure centres, hospitals and catering outlets.
In 2004 Vianet and GSK worked together to prove the productivity benefits of the vOpen solution over a four month trial period, equipping two sales territories (roughly 300 machines) with telemetry systems. The vOpen solution was used actively in the first territory while the data derived from the machines in the second territory was used as a benchmark. The result was a compound 25% uplift in sales: the first territory experienced an increase in sales of 13% while the second territory experienced a drop in sales of 12%, which roughly matched the national average.
Since the initial trial GSK has ordered a further 3,618 systems from Vianet.
